You know when you read a book so good, you just can’t put it down because the story is so cap- tivating, and you’re so invested in the characters that you just need to know what happens after each page? Taylor Jenkins Reed is a phenomenal writer, and her char- acters in Daisy Jones and The Six show just how gripping her style is. As I sit here and write this re- view while listening to the Daisy Jones and The Six soundtrack (yes, you read that right. This book has a soundtrack), I’m transported back into the palpa-

ble world of the enigmatic Daisy Jones and the ragtag group of musicians just trying to make it in the hard-hitting music industry.
Daisy Jones and The Six is writ- ten from an interview point of view, and the interviewees are none other than Daisy Jones, the members of The Six, and the beautiful Camilla Dunne. As the pages turn, we learn more about the infamous story of Daisy Jones and The Six and what led to their final performance in Chicago, Il- linois.
I could talk for hours about every single one of these char- acters and how fleshed-out and real they are, but we don’t have that kind of time. But I will talk about the star of the show: Miss Daisy Jones. Daisy Jones grew up in a household that silenced her groundbreaking voice from a young age, so she found herself as a rebel teenager sneaking into all of the live music joints in Los An- geles and finding her voice there. Daisy knew she was a talented
singer-songwriter and wanted to show the world what she had to offer. Finally, as she reached adulthood, she found her way bopping through the music scene as a little-known solo artist. How- ever, the magic of L.A. doesn’t come without a bit of mayhem, and Daisy Jones might just learn that the hard way.
The Six, a small garage band made up of Billy and Graham Dunne, Karen Sirko, Eddie, and Warren, started out as an un- derground, no-name band with dreams of making it to the top. And, oh boy, did they do just that. But I won’t spoil that. Any- ways, the band’s frontman, Billy Dunne, was everything a heart- throb rockstar was: an attractive, tortured singer with the voice of an angel. And he was married to the beautiful Camila, a woman who wanted the best for her fam- ily.
So when The Six finally lands a record deal, it’s not long before they cross paths with Daisy Jones.
Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne singing together is something that is more than groundbreaking; it’s life-changing.
Daisy Jones and The Six highlight every single emotion that comes with being a world-renowned band that captures the hearts of millions with their songs. Reading about the dynamic shift as soon as Daisy joins the band and she and Billy take over the stage with their
voices makes the story a memora- ble experience.
But of course, I said “every single emotion,” which also in- volves some negative ones. It might be cliche to say that this book is the equivalent of a roll- er-coaster ride, but that is pre- cisely what it is. Taylor Jenkins Reed takes readers to the highest highs and lowest lows with every- thing that Daisy, Camila, and the members of The Six go through.
I’ll be honest: This book made me laugh, cry, and fight myself not to throw it across the room, but oh man, it was good. It’s the type of story that makes you feel every emotion as you learn about these enigmatic characters and their stories. And, not for nothing, this book comes with a soundtrack with good music and a television adaptation! So, if you’re looking for a book to consume your entire existence, Daisy Jones and The Six is what you should pick up next!
