Plymouth Regional High School to Host 4th Annual Special Olympics Penguin Plunge
Plymouth Regional High School (PRHS) is once again taking the plunge for a great cause. On February 20, 2026, the school will host its fourth annual do-it-yourself Special Olympics Penguin Plunge, bringing to- gether students, staff, families, and community supporters to raise funds for Special Olympics New Hampshire (SONH) and unified programs at PRHS.
The event has become a win- ter tradition at the school, com- bining school spirit, teamwork, and a shared commitment to inclusion. Participants brave the cold in support of athletes with intellectual disabilities, while local fire departments and law enforcement agencies will once again be on hand to support the plunge and help participants safely get soaked.
Funds raised through previous
Penguin Plunges have had a last- ing impact at Plymouth Regional High School. Donations have supported the purchase of spe- cialized sports equipment, helped launch unified sports teams, and contributed to inclusive courses such as Unified Art, Physical Education, and Wellness. Addi- tional funds have been directed toward supplies to ensure that all students have access to meaning- ful and inclusive opportunities.
PRHS is currently building its “flock” of plungers, and students, families, staff, and community members are all welcome to par- ticipate. The event offers a fun and memorable way to support a cause that has a meaningful im- pact both locally and statewide.

The plunge supports the mis- sion of Special Olympics New Hampshire, which provides year- round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olym-
pic-style sports for children and adults with intellectual disabili- ties. SONH creates opportunities for athletes to build physical fit- ness, demonstrate courage, expe- rience joy, and share friendships with teammates, families, and the broader community. With 20 Olympic-style sports and year-
round programming across the Granite State, athletes of all ages are forming friendships, building confidence, and inspiring inclu- sion wherever they compete.
At Special Olympics New Hampshire, sports are about far more than competition. Each practice, race, and high-five high- lights athletes’ determination, courage, and joy—reminding everyone that ability always out- shines limitation. When the focus is on inclusion, everyone benefits.
The Penguin Plunge comes during a year of continued rec- ognition for PRHS’s leadership in inclusion. In December, the school proudly raised its Unified Champion Schools State Banner once again, earning repeat ban- ner status in recognition of years of intentional leadership and a school culture rooted in belong- ing. The celebration included a banner reveal, a commemorative plaque, and a spirited Unified Basketball game against faculty.
Participants are looking forward to another successful Penguin Plunge and invite the community to join them in sup- porting a cause that celebrates determination, teamwork, and happiness, because when every- one is included, everyone wins.
