Valentine's Day Delights:
Exploring Romantic Activities Around Newfound
By Brittany amalfi
February is here! And that means the ever-popular holiday of Valentine’s Day is upon us. For many, Valentine’s Day is a day to spend quality time with the peo- ple they love and cherish. Now, the idea of Valentine’s Day might look good on paper, but in reality, it can be very stressful. Plans for the love-filled holiday can be hard to figure out for some people, which might lead to a not-so-great day, and everyone just wants to feel the love on Valentine’s Day! So, in hopes that people won’t get stressed about Valentine’s plans, I’ve compiled a list of ideas of what to do in the Newfound Area! If you’re unsure what to plan for yourself and the one you love, check out the article below.
Who doesn’t love a good lunch
or dinner on Valentine’s Day? Luckily, Newfound is filled to the brim with excellent restaurants that people can go to celebrate. Grab some wonderful, authentic Mexican food at Cielito Mexican Restaurant. Or, if one is looking for some excellent Irish food and maybe some live entertainment,
they can head down to Kath- leen’s Irish Pub.
The Bridgewater Inn Japa- nese Steakhouse and Tavern will make for a delicious dinner with its absolutely stacked menu. Fi- nally, if you’re looking for some- thing special but still have an extraordinary selection of food
and beer, the Newfound Lake Inn has everything you need for your special occasion dinner.
For the more adventurous types, you’re in luck if you live here in Newfound!
Snowmobiling is an insanely popular and fun activity here in the community, so whether you are part of a snowmobiling club or not, snowmobiling in the Wa- tershed is always a good option! How amazing does a day snow- mobiling with your significant other sound? You could make a whole day out of it! Snowmo- biling through the snow-covered trees, stopping at one of the local stops along the way for a warm beverage, and basking in the win- ter glory. And, of course, there are plenty of places to go skiing and show showing in the beau-
tiful mountains of New Hamp- shire. From Tenney Mountain Ski Area, Ragged Mountain Resort, Waterville Valley Resort there is so much to do. Don’t forget snowshoeing at is always a great way to spend a winter day!
For those who love a little en- tertainment, there’s always the possibility of a good show at The Flying Monkey in Plymouth! Check out their website for up- coming shows.
Keep in mind all of these ac- tivities aren’t limited to couples! Whoever you’re sharing your Valentine’s Day with, all of these fun excursions are open to all. So, grab your friends, your family, your partner, and have a fun day (or night!) out. Valentine’s Day is all about love, no matter who you’re with, so let’s all enjoy it!
Newfound Nature Station is Exploring Winter!
HEBRON – Join the New- found Lake Region Association (NLRA) as we take some time to notice the variety of colors, sounds, and sights in winter. This event will be held at Grey Rocks Conservation Area at 178 N Shore Road, Hebron, NH on February 13 from 1pm to 3 pm and February 17 from 10 am to 12 pm. In winter it’s easy to feel like everything is on hold- the
ground is shades of white and gray, there are bare plants, and the animals seem to be hiding. But there’s so much going on over and under the surface if we stop for a moment to watch and listen! At Nature Station, visitors will walk the trails at Grey Rocks looking for clues about the life happening all around and make nature jour- nals to take home. This program is free and open to all.
Newfound Nature Station, along with other family programs and events, is part of NLRA’s year-round work to encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the natural beauty around them, learn more about the environ- ment and how to protect it, and fall in love with the Newfound Watershed. By connecting the people of Newfound to the won- ders around them, NLRA works
to inspire the next generation of stewards and fulfill the mission of protecting Newfound Lake and its watershed. Along with programs
like Newfound Nature Station, NLRA maintains Grey Rocks Conservation Area in all seasons as a place for people and wildlife alike. It offers walking trails, a picnic area, fishing alcoves, and a non-motorized boat launch and is frequented by wildlife like loons, turtles, and bald eagles as well as people. Learn more about NLRA including other upcoming events at NewfoundLake.org.
