I Hope This Email Finds You in Hell By: Mackenzie Reed
  By: BRittany amalfi
It’s October! One of my fa- vorite months! And of course, it’s one of my favorite months solely because I am knee-deep in the cozy fall vibes, and to have cozy fall vibes, you need the perfect book. In my opinion, a fast-paced romance set in the fiery depths of Hell is exactly what I’m looking for to enter- tain my fallish book needs. So, when Mackenzie Reed released I Hope This Email Finds You in Hell, I knew I was in for a wild ride—and yes, I am talking
about Luke and Brie’s road trip through Hell.
Brie is already having a rough time before Hell even enters the picture. She’s stuck in a soul-sucking corporate job that feels painfully relatable to anyone who has ever stared at their computer screen and won- dered, “Is this really what I’m doing with my life?” But things get interesting quickly when Brie witnesses her boss perform- ing an exorcism on Debra from Accounting. Because appar- ently, the most terrifying thing happening in the office isn’t the quarterly budget meeting. And thus begins a road trip through hell with Luke, Brie’s hot boss.
What follows is a chaotic, dangerous, and surprisingly romantic journey as Brie and Luke navigate the depths of Hell, trying to figure out what's going on—and, naturally, catch- ing feelings along the way.
But of course, you know me, and I loved the romance.
Brie and Luke's rela- tionship was easily one of my favorite parts of the book. Their chemistry and banter made their journey through Hell so much fun to read, and I loved watch- ing their relationship de- velop as they were thrown into one ridiculous situa- tion after another. There’s something about two peo- ple being forced to rely on each other in the middle of absolute chaos that makes a romance even more enter- taining. And I truly just love a broody demon hunter.
Brie was such a standout FMC for me because she feels incredibly relatable. She isn’t perfectly confident or someone who always knows exactly what she wants. She’s tired and frustrated, and try- ing to figure out her life while working a job that seems deter- mined to suck every last ounce
of happiness out of her. I think a lot of us can relate to feeling stuck in a job that pays the bills but slowly drains your soul. Brie just happens to discover that her soul-sucking corporate job is ac- tually a little more literal than most of ours.
And honestly, the prem- ise alone had me hooked. A corporate employee, a demon hunter, a road trip through Hell, and Debra from Accounting getting exorcised? I’m sorry, but how was I supposed to say no to that?
Overall, I Hope This Email Finds You in Hell was exactly the kind of fast-paced, entertaining romance I wanted. It’s chaotic, romantic, and completely ridiculous in the best possible way. Brie is an FMC I couldn’t help but root for, and her rela- tionship with Luke kept me invested throughout their
wild journey. If you’re looking for a romance that will make you laugh, swoon, and question whether your own workplace is secretly run by demons, this one deserves a spot on your fall TBR.
