Newfound Area Senior Services Search for Home- Delivered Meal Drivers & Volunteers
Newfound Area Senior Services (NASS) is looking for Home-Delivered Meal driv- ers/volunteers. Do you have a couple of hours in the morn- ings to donate your time to this great program? The Meals on Wheels Website reports the following: “Local meal provid- ers are currently experiencing higher than usual demand for services. Who’s eligible? Adults 60+ with mobility challenges that make it hard to shop for food, prepare meals, or social- ize with others. Age require- ments and eligibility may vary by area and provider.” This increased need for Home-De-
livered Meals is why volunteer drivers are so important, and the need for drivers is so great. If you are interested in vol- unteering for this worthwhile program, please call Donna or Gail at 603-536-1204 for more information. Thank you!
Also, check out Grafton County Senior Citizens Coun- cil, Inc’s website for more in- formation regarding all the programs and services this organization provides: www. gcscc.org and/or https:// www.gcscc.org/home-deliv- ered-meals for information re- garding the Home-Delivered Meal program.
Awareness Month: Mid-State
Health Offers FREE Screenings
PLYMOUTH - As Breast Cancer Awareness Month is rec- ognized this October, Mid-State Health is reminding community members of the importance of routine screenings and early detection. Through a partner- ship with the NH Healthy Lives Breast and Cervical Cancer Pro- gram (BCCP), Mid-State Health offers FREE breast and cervical cancer screenings to eligible pa- tients.
The BCCP, a program of NH Health and Human Services, helps make cancer screenings and diagnostic services accessible to New Hampshire residents who may otherwise face barriers to care. Early detection can improve treatment options and outcomes for those diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer.
Breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed can- cer among women in the United States. While screening recom- mendations vary based on age and individual risk factors, stay- ing up to date on recommended screenings and discussing per- sonal risk with a healthcare provider are important steps in maintaining breast and cervical health.
“Early detection can make a meaningful difference, and we want to make sure cost never stands in the way of getting screened,” said Robert MacLeod, CEO of Mid-State Health Cen-
ter. “We’re proud to partner with NH Healthy Lives to help make these essential screenings acces- sible to everyone in our commu- nity.”
The BCCP provides FREE breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to individuals ages 21–64 who are uninsured, have insurance that does not cover the cost of screening, or meet certain in- come eligibility requirements.
To learn more or find out if you qualify, call Mid-State Health at (603) 536-4000. For ad- ditional screening locations and
