Even though this winter was a dud, we are ready to welcome summer with open arms. The weather is finally getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and it’s officially time to start plan- ning for a summer of fun. Of course, nothing can compare to summers on the lake, especially Newfound Lake. Our 4,106-acre lake is definitely the spot to spend the warm months on as you get into those outdoor activities. But with a summer of fun also comes a summer of safety. We want to ensure our health and well-being as we partake in these enjoyable activities, so we should follow some essential safety tips this summer!
Boating:
There are a lot of boaters out on the lake this time of year, so it’s time to refresh on boater et- iquette.

The lakes are a wonderful place to swim if allowed! How- ever, there can be plenty of dan- gers when it comes to swimming.
• Never swim alone
• Always have sun protection
• Always make sure children are supervised
• Wear life vests when needed. And remember, adult life vests do not work on children!
• Look out for signs that might say “no swimming”
• Learn CPR for all ages
• Be wary of the weather when swimming
Hiking
We all love an excellent sun- shine-filled hike. But the summer is notorious for some brutally hot weather. So staying on top of things is crucial when getting out into the mountains.
