This month’s Shining Star is Newfound Regional High School’s preeminent scholar, thespian, and athlete, Jeffrey Huckins. Jeffrey has made a name for himself in many AP classes at Newfound and won many lead- ing roles and awards as an actor in Newfound’s school and com- munity productions. When he is not in class or on stage, Jeffrey can be found running the trails and track with his teammates on the Newfound boys’ cross coun- try and track and field teams. No matter which activity he may be involved with at the time, Jeffrey represents himself, the school, and the community with class.
Nearing the end of his aca- demic career at Newfound, Jef- frey finds himself ranked in the top 10 of his class with a GPA of greater than 4.0. Jeffrey is also a member of the student council as well as the National Honors Society. He also serves as the Vice-President of the teen coun- cil. In addition to his academic achievements, Jeffrey worked as a TTCC summer camp coun-

selor, and has performed count- less hours of volunteer service to his community.
One of Jeffrey’s great passions is theater, and he has become an extremely decorated actor at Newfound. One of the most an- ticipated events of the school year is the class One Act competition, in which Jeffrey has performed each year. He has been named Actor of the Night three times in his four years at Newfound. Jeffrey is finishing his high school theater career by performing the lead role in this year’s community spring musical.
All these accomplishments may be enough for most, but not for Jeffrey Huckins. In addition to his aforementioned talents, Jef- frey is also a talented cross-coun- try and track-and-field athlete. He has been a top 3 runner for Newfound’s boys’ cross country team all four seasons of his high school career and helped lead his team to finish runner’s up in the 2021 NHIAA Division III State Championship meet. During the spring track and field season, Jef-

He has led his team by example, and his efforts are greatly respected by his coaches and teammates. There- fore he was named a captain of this year’s boys’ cross country and track and field teams.
Jeffrey is extremely dedicated to his friends and family, and he has a strong attachment to the Newfound community. There- fore next year, Jeffrey will stay close to home and attend Col- by-Sawyer College, where he will major in nursing and compete on Colby-Sawyer’s men’s track and cross country teams. Though he will be greatly missed next year by the Newfound Regional High School teachers, theater direc- tors, and track and cross-country coaches, they all wish Jeffrey the best of luck in his future and look forward to hearing about his suc- cess for years to come.
