Laura Brusseau Joins the Mayhew Program as Engagement Manager
Bagpiper Joe DeLuca and members of Scout Troop 50 opened the Veterans Day program as they paraded on to the Hebron Common on Monday. The flag was carried by Levi Towne.
BRISTOL – Laura Brusseau has joined the Mayhew Program as its Engagement Manager, bringing more than a decade of nonprofit and education experi- ence to the team. Laura began her non-profit career as co- founder of the Faith, Hope, and Love Foundation. She has served on numerous non-profit boards and has helped to create events to benefit children and youth, such as Lakes Region Dancing with the Stars and the Spirit of Hope and Kindness Awards. Most recently, Laura was the Di- rector of Development Opera- tions for Catholic Charities New Hampshire.
In joining Mayhew, Laura said, “I am excited to use my skills and passion for investing in our youth to further Mayhew’s mission of challenging and help- ing at-risk New Hampshire boys to believe in themselves, work
Since 1969, Mayhew has been dedicated to helping de- serving New Hampshire boys strive toward futures they’re proud of, where the focus is on family, community, and achieve- ment. Mayhew’s work begins when a boy is ten and continues through his high school gradua- tion; it combines a transforma- tive summer program on Bristol’s Newfound Lake with regular monthly mentoring throughout the school year. It is only through the generosity of its family of contributors that Mayhew re- mains tuition-free for the boys.

Pitts, it should be noted, was awarded not only a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his service in Afghanistan but is only the ninth living recipient of the highly distinguished Con- gressional Medal of Honor in the nation.
Taub then presented a copy of their book to the Hebron Li- brary so others may learn the stories and sacrifices of some of these brave men and women from New Hampshire.
Other presentations that took place during the ceremony was the Pledge of Allegiance and a reading of “Take a Moment to Thank a Veteran,” each done by Kelton Austin of Troop 50.
William Mausolf played “Taps” as his grandfather, retired USMC veteran Henry Lynch,
was assisted by his other grand- children, Pip Mausolf, Lydia, and Curtis Lynch. Together, they lowered and folded the old flag flying on the Common.
Conrad Deuso of Scout Troop 50 then played “Echo Taps” as Lynch and his grand- children raised a new flag. Brit- telli noted that the new flag was provided by Pres. Joe Biden and had been draped over the casket of Hebron resident Hugh Syca- more. His family generously do- nated the flag to the town in his honor.
To close the ceremony, the Men’s Quartet (technically a quintet that day, they joked) per- formed “America (My Country ‘Tis of Thee)” and led the crowd in singing “America the Beauti- ful.” Then, everyone was invited to gather for refreshments at the Hebron Community Hall across the road.
