Newfound Coalition for Youth Awarded Federal Grant for Youth Substance Use Prevention
  Winter Weddings
If you're thinking about having a quick winter wed- ding, relax and keep reading. While many wedding gurus advocate spending a year or more planning your wedding, it is certainly possible to create the wedding of your dreams at the right place with expe- rienced hosts. Once you have the venue booked, the rest of the details can be arranged with amazing efficiency. If you are clear about your desires, your vision can be fulfilled with very little fuss.
Winter weddings are said to forge the strongest bonds. Imagine a small ceremony with only your dearest family and friends. Intimate, refined and totally personalized wed- dings create quality memories and set the tone for a deep, warm marriage. No matter the size or style of the venue, you can keep that warm and cozy feeling through choosing the right details. At our B&B we just love winter weddings because of the incredible theme and decorating pos- sibilities. There are so many elegant color and floral com- binations available for winter weddings. Any space is stun-
ning when decorated in ever- green garland finished off with red, velvety bows and white poinsettias. A wedding gown styled for a snow queen can be set off by natural foliage and frosty sparkles. Candles (LED) and roses easily complete the romantic setting. If you want more glam, add gold accents or linens. Feeling nostalgic? Take your favorite holiday tra- ditions and incorporate them into your theme.
Your wedding day should be one of the most memora- ble days of your life. Select a venue that will book only one wedding at a time, so you do not have to share your day. Work with hosts who will at- tend to every detail to please your personal preferences and tastes to ensure you have a pic- ture-perfect wedding.
If both of you are ready, willing and eager, don’t let “everybody knows” hold you back.

BRISTOL — As National Youth Substance Use Prevention Month comes to a close, the New- found Coalition for Youth (NCFY) is excited to announce that they have recently been awarded the Drug-Free Communities Grant (DFC) from the White House’s Of- fice of National Drug Control Pol- icy (ONDCP). This 5-year grant award of $125,000 per year pro- vides the Coalition with resources to strengthen community collabo- ration in an effort to prevent and reduce substance misuse.
The NCFY joins over 700 coali- tions nationwide, providing a com- prehensive approach to address youth substance use at the local level. Local coalitions composed of community leaders, parents, youth, teachers, religious and fra- ternal organizations, health care and business professionals, law
enforcement, and media come to- gether to facilitate the effective im- plementation of evidence-based, practice-based youth substance use prevention strategies, understand- ing that local problems require local solutions. With the release of the 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Sur- vey (YRBS), indicating Newfound area high school students were en- countering both alcohol and mari- juana at younger ages than the NH statewide average, Community and School leaders focused their efforts and utilized the expertise of Coa- lition member Sgt. 1st Class Rick Frost of New Hampshire National Guard Counterdrug Program to write and submit the DFC grant last April.
While the funding is new the work of the Newfound Coali- tion for Youth has been ongoing. In 2022 a group of high school
students began a youth preven- tion group entitled Getting to Y. Through funds made available by the DFC grant.
Through community collab- oration and involvement we can all help our youth make positive life choices and make our commu- nity a safer place for children and families. The Newfound Coali- tion for Youth meets on the third Wednesday of each month at the Newfound Regional High School. Community members are always welcome to attend.
