Let’s dive into how to make these fantastic cookies!
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup of butter (softened)
3⁄4 cup of confectionary sugar 2 tablespoons of molasses
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 1⁄4 cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of cinnamon 1 teaspoon of ginger
1⁄2 teaspoon of nutmeg 1⁄2 a teaspoon of cloves
FOR THE SUGAR COATING:
3⁄4 cup of confectionary sugar
1⁄2 teaspoon of cinnamon 1/8 teaspoon of ginger
EQUIPMENT:
Mixer
Mixing bowls
Baking sheet
Silicone mat or parchment paper
Small cookie scoop or tablespoon
Cooking rack
Whisk
1. Preheat the oven to 350 de- grees. Line the baking sheet
with a silicone mat or parch- ment paper.
2. Use the mixer to cream the butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy. Add the molasses and vanilla, and continue beating until the mixture is creamy.
3. Mix the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.
4. Combine the wet and dry in- gredients and beat together at a low speed. The dough will be stiff, but it should come to- gether nicely.
5. Form the dough balls using the cookie scoop or table- spoon. Roll them and place them on the cookie sheet,
leaving about 1 inch in be- tween.
6. Bake the cookies for 9-11 minutes or until the bottoms are lightly browned. They should look a little soft in the center.
7. Cool slightly before coating for about 2-4 minutes on the cookie sheet.
8. Whisk together the sug- ar-coating ingredients. Roll each warm cookie in the sugar coating.
9. Place the cookies on a cooling rack to cool completely. If you think that the first sugar coating melted into the cook- ies, feel free to give them a second coating.
10. Enjoy the gingerbread snow- ball cookies!
We hope everyone has a won- derful and safe holiday spending time with their loved ones!
Franklin Opera House presents a “Holly Jolly Holiday with Ida”
Prepare to laugh when you join Ida LeClair for Christmas in Mahoosuc Mills. Ida’s holiday spirit is so bright, it could light up an entire inflatable penguin vil- lage. Actress Susan Poulin brings her warm and funny character to
life at the Franklin Public Library in Franklin, NH on Saturday, De- cember 14, at 7:30 pm. “She just beams love out into the world, and that is something we need right now,” Poulin says.
Come on over to Ida and
Charlie’s house and pick up a few holiday decorating tips, discover the “secret” in the not-so-secret Santa plan, and get the scoop on Ida’s latest Christmas craft project with the Women Who Run With the Moose. Ida’s no Scrooge, so banish your bah-humbugs and prepare to laugh.
“Spending time with Ida is like talking to an old friend—one with plenty of experience and a
wicked sense of humor.”
