I first visited Newfound Lake in the ‘70s when my family rented a cottage on Whittemore Point for two weeks. The place was for sale, and to be sure we liked the area, the seller rented it to us with the option to purchase it at the end of the rental period. Fifty-something years later, New- found Lake is still my favorite place in the world.
Back then, we’d spend the days swimming, waterskiing, fishing off the dock, collecting mussels, and chasing each other through the woods. The water was always brisk, even in the peak of July, but we didn’t care. Sometimes we’d take the boat out at sunset, watching the sky turn sherbet orange and pink. The soft call of loons echoing across the lake was the perfect backdrop for decades of magical summers.
What made those summers so special wasn’t just the scen- ery, but the simplicity of it all. There were no distractions — no phones, no schedules — just fam- ily, friends, and the rhythm of the lake. Can you imagine any- thing more peaceful? Newfound taught us how to be present, how to play, and how to appreciate
the quiet, beautiful moments. And best of all, Newfound still brings all of its timeless magic to everyone who visits today.
In the spirit of sharing the magic, I own and rent some va- cation rental properties in the area. I will be using this space to present case studies, explore
