Exploring Newfound’s Winter Wonderland
January 2025
  By: BRittaNy amalfi
Winter is here, and with snow finally covering the ground, it's the perfect time to get out on the trails for some snowmobiling. The area is home to several snowmo- bile clubs that are experts in the best trails, offering both scenic rides and exciting adventures. These clubs are made up of ded- icated volunteers who work hard to maintain the trails, ensuring they’re safe and ready for ev- eryone to enjoy. Whether you're a seasoned rider or new to the sport, joining a snowmobile club is a great way to connect with fel- low enthusiasts and explore new routes. If you've been thinking about joining, now is the ideal time, and here are some excellent clubs to consider.
Hardy Country Snowmobiling Club
The Hardy Country Snow- mobiling Club maintains over 80 miles of trails located around the northern part of Newfound
Lake. Like many other snowmo- biling clubs, they have Hebron Center, Trails East, Trails West, Trails South, and Trails North. Along the trails, they can stop at the Hebron Country Store for food, warm beverages, and ac- cess to Newfound Lake. They can also stop at the Tenney Mountain Country store for food and gas, Sculptured Rock for parking, Wel- lington State Park for parking and access to Newfound Lake, and Tenney Mountain Resort for food. Their latest update—12/11/2024
“Trail update: We opened a couple of trails early, but due to the heavy rain, all trails are now closed. Please check our website or Facebook page for updates.” For more information on mem- berships and trails, please go to https://hardycountrysnowmobi- leclub.com/.
Bridgewater Mountain Snowmobile Club
The Bridgewater Mountain Snowmobile Club consists of 50
miles of trails in the Newfound Lake Region that travel through the Bridgewater Mountains in the towns of Bridgewater, Ashland, Bristol, and Plymouth. Along the trails, drivers can stop at the New- found Country Store, Bridgewater Inn, The Homestead, The Italian Farmhouse, and Outdoor Perfor- mance. In addition, their trail sys- tem connects to other local clubs like Hardy Country, Corridor 24, and Squam Trail Busters.
As of December 13th, the BMSC’s update was this— “De- spite over 3 inches of rain in the area, trail conditions are better than expected. The trails are cur- rently closed, but most of the base remains intact and is setting up nicely. The main issues are run- ning water on the mountain and flooding on Corridor 24 near the Pemi River. There are deep water bars on the mountain, which pri- marily keep the trails closed at this time. However, colder tem- peratures are helping to freeze the moving water, and several
cold nights ahead should further improve conditions. The outlook is positive, and more details will be pro- vided after a system survey over the weekend. For more information on their trails and membership, please go to https://bridgewater- mtnsmc.org/.
Baker River Valley Snowmobile Club
The Baker River Valley Snow- mobile Club in Wentworth, New Hampshire, is on corridor #8, and it borders Lyme Pinacle, Hardy Country, SnoDrifters, and Asqua- mchamauke snowmobile clubs. Their clubhouse has trailside parking, a warm place to get ready, and a hot meal served by volun- teers. They also have Grump’s Grill, located in their clubhouse andopen8AMto4PMonSatur- days and Sundays throughout the season. They also offer many club activities like safety lessons, Ladies Ride, Poker Run, and much more!
