Danbury Winter Market
First Saturday Of The Month
The Blazing Star Grange #71 of Danbury NH sponsors the Danbury Winter Market to help sustain our local area, strengthen our local economy, maintain our rural landscape through saving small family farms that preserve our green space.
Our market season runs the first Saturday of the month through May from 9 a.m. to noon. Two changes this season - the time! and we're going an extra month with our in person market.
Blazing Star Grange encourages your support of our Dan- bury Winter Market Vendors. Local farms provide a strong an- chor in the security of local food supply and they, along with our artisan, strengthen our regions economy.
Market Location: Grange Hall, 15 North Road, Danbury NH, a stone's throw from the intersections of routes 4 & 104. For information contact Donna at 603-768-5579.

Finally, on the last weekend in February, derby fun gets local when Alexandria Volunteer Fire- fighters’ Association 31st Annual Ice Fishing Derby kicks off on Newfound Lake.
Newfound Lake is known for its large lake trout, rainbow trout, perch and cusk, so ice fishing on the lake draws ice anglers from throughout the region and be- yond each winter. Derby week- end is the time though when ice anglers can also win large cash prizes. Children can take home trophies courtesy of the Simula Family for their big catch and, if even the youngest of them pulls in a big fish in any category they, too, might go home with a check.
The top three fish presented to headquarters by 3 p.m. that Sunday will be awarded $1,000, $500 and $250 respectively. In the categories of lake trout, rain- bow trout, perch, cusk and pick- erel there are additional cash prizes of $150, $100 and $50 for the top three of each species.
Besides cash and trophies, the association will hold numer- ous raffles over the weekend for prizes donated by local busi- nesses. Ticket holders need not be part of the derby and will be notified should their name be drawn.
The headquarters at Wel- lington State Park boat launch, where all offshore activity takes place, draws many people in- terested in seeing the large fish come in as the leader board changes throughout the week- end. Due to the ongoing viral pandemic however, the associ- ation’s request is that both fish- ermen and spectators coming to derby headquarters and the weigh-in station wear a mask to keep everyone protected.
Alexandria Volunteer Fire- fighters Association’s annual Ice Fishing Derby will be held on Feb. 26-27 and all proceeds from the derby, food sales and raffles will benefit their ongoing support efforts for the town’s fire depart- ment.
