Lft to Rt: Bill Robertie and Forest Ranger John Doyle
Last Thursdays Select Board Meeting in Hebron was a buzz of excitement due to a Special Ceremony held in honor of Bill Robertie, our recently retired Fire Captain and Fire Warden.
Bill first joined the fire de- partment in 1978, logging in 47 years of active service as a dedicated Firefighter. He was promoted up through the ranks and served as Captain for a cou- ple of decades. Bill became the Town Fire Warden nine years after joining the fire department and retired after 38 years of ser- vice as Warden.
Bill was the owner of New-
found Lake Marina until the site was passed to the Newfound Lake Association a few years back. As a local business owner Bill left his business and came to almost every call. Among his many other accomplishments he developed a Fire Attack Plan for Hebron Center which is still used today, used his own equip- ment to pump out many sunken boats on the lake and estab- lished a network of Deputy Fire Wardens in Town for quick and efficient service with permits and forest fires.
In honor of his years of ser- vice Bill was presented a plaque
by the Hebron Town Select Board. The Fire Department presented Bill with a commem- orative polo shirt, as well as, a letter of appreciation from Re- tired Fire Chief, John Fischer. The state Division of Forests and Lands presented Bill with a Certificate of Appreciation presented by Forest Ranger, John Doyle. Hebron is lucky to have had Bill’s years of service and wish him well in his retire- ment from both the Hebron Fire Department and the New Hampshire Division of Forests and Lands.
