Earth Day (April 22nd) is al- ways the perfect time to appre- ciate the natural beauty of the Newfound Lakes Region. New- found Lake is often praised as one of the cleanest lakes in the state, thanks to the dedicated conser- vation efforts of the community and the region’s pristine natural landscape. From the clear waters to the dense forests, this area of- fers a sanctuary for both wildlife and those who seek a peaceful connection with nature.
A Haven for Wildlife
Newfound Lake and the sur-
rounding area are home to a wide variety of wildlife. Bald ea- gles can often be seen flying over the lake, while loons make their distinctive calls in the early morn- ing fog. The nearby forests pro- vide shelter for animals like deer, foxes, and numerous bird species, offering an ideal environment for nature enthusiasts and photogra- phers. Local conservation efforts, which include protecting natural lands and promoting responsible tourism, have helped maintain a healthy ecosystem, ensuring that these species continue to thrive in the region.

The Newfound Lake Region Association (NLRA) is com- mitted to protecting Newfound Lake and its surrounding water- shed. Through education, pro- grams, and collaboration, the Association works to conserve the region's natural, social, and economic resources. Their vision
is to achieve a cleaner, clearer Newfound Lake within the next decade.
As Earth Day approaches, it's a reminder that much of what makes Newfound Lake so spe- cial is the dedication of the com- munity to preserving it. Local organizations like the NLRA are determined in their efforts to protect water quality, prevent pollution, and promote sustain- able practices.
