From the Chairman of the Assumption College

          Advisory Council

T he college’s 10-year master plan was completed on Sunday,

April 17 with the opening of the Fourvière Centre. The building
had served many purposes in its past life but most notably to
former students as the boarding house for many decades. On the
opening day they outdid themselves with stories about some of
the horrors of the old accommodation and amenities that were
          or were not provided.
However, the comments shared among alumni on that day
were also about their sheer amazement at the transformation
of the building, the spaciousness of the learning and breakout
areas and the harmonious connection of the old and the new to
          produce a landmark building.

The work of the architects Y2, Project Coordinator John Brenan,
the builder CICG Pty Ltd and the many specialist contractors
was duly acknowledged at the opening as well as the work of
the Building and Planning Committee of the College Advisory
Council in ensuring that the architectural simplicity of the
original building was maintained in the new Fourvière Centre.
There have been some changes to the council in 2016.
Congratulations to Anthony Quigley, a parent and past student,
who has joined us along with Allison LeBusque who has
accepted the appointment of Deputy Chairwoman. Chris Blake
(nine years), Ray Hutchison (six years) and Col Makin (one year)
have retired. Each has made an important contribution to the
          workings of the council.
The focus of the council’s work has shifted. It now assists the
Principal and her leadership team in implementing more
comprehensive risk management processes and reviewing the
master plan to meet future needs of the college as it faces new
and demanding educational challenges in the years ahead.

Special thanks to the continuing members of the council: Allison
LeBusque, Peter White (Marist Schools Australia nominee),
Stephen Dale, Ben Hardman, Anthony Quigley and Michael
Bourne (Principal of St Patrick’s Primary School).
          Bernie Shinners – Chairman
