Hitches are used to secure the end of a line to an object, either to move the
object or to belay the line and keep it from moving. The Clove Hitch is a
versatile, quick-to-tie choice for light and temporary duty, but the Rolling Hitch
provides an added measure of security. The Stopper Hitch is especially effective
for a super grip—say, when towing a timber through the water or dragging it
across land.
