PURPOSE
To get multiple ideas for problem solving and to learn to turn to others for help in problem solving.
DESCRIPTION
People write down a problem or struggle they are having and ask for others to give them ideas on solving it.
PARTICIPANTS Team
TIME 10 minutes
SUPPLIES pens and paper
Steps:
• Ask all participants to sit in a circle. Each person gets a piece of paper and writes a problem or struggle they are having at the top of the page. It can be with a resident or another team member. It can be about a hurtle the household team has come up against or problems with communication. Anything.
• Now, ask everyone to hand their paper to the person on their left. That person has 30 seconds to write down the first thoughts that come to mind. Repeat the process switching every 30 seconds until people have their papers back.
• Give everybody a minute or two to look over the responses and then open it up for further discussion or clarification. Hopefully by getting people to weigh in on the same problem, participants will see the range of options or, that there seems to be one solution that most people agree upon.
