PURPOSE
To get to know each other and remember names.
DESCRIPTION
The team does introductions in a circle, giving others a way to remember their names.
PARTICIPANTS 12-20
TIME 15 minutes
Steps:
• Have participants stand or sit in a circle with you. Ask for a volunteer. Ask the volunteer to state their first name and an adjective to describe themselves that starts with the same letter as the first letter of their name. Use your name and an adjective to illustrate.
• The volunteer presents his or her name and adjective. Then, suggest that the person to the left or right of the volunteer re-introduce the volunteer with his or her name and adjective that the volunteer stated, and then introduce themselves in the same way.
• The third person introduces the volunteer, the person who just introduced the volunteer and then themselves -- again all in the same way - first name and adjective. (People further down the line will begin to moan as they realize that they must remember more names.) If anyone gets flustered, immediately say, “Don’t worry, we’ll help, right group?” and encourage others to toss in the name or adjective that has been forgotten.
