PURPOSE PARTICIPANTS To start to recognize all the things that Team
are not like home in the institution.
DESCRIPTION
Individuals or teams go around the facility and write down or take photos of things that are institutional and things that are home-like.
TIME
15 minutes over the course of a day –15 miniutes to debrief
SUPPLIES
Paper and pens disposable, personal or digital cameras
Steps:
VERSION 1
• Give individuals, pairs or teams a disposable camera or invite folks to bring in their own cameras and ask them to go out and take pictures for the next 15 minutes or over the course of their work day.
• They should look for signs of home, signs of institution, signs of community and signs of loneliness, helplessness and boredom.
• Develop the pictures for the next meeting when you will discuss them. If they are digital pictures, transfer them to a computer and project them on the wall.
• Ask people to share what their thoughts were when they took the pictures.
• Perhaps group the pictures into challenges – dining challenges, increasing daily pleasures challenges, bathing challenges, privacy challenges, etc.
