PURPOSE
To get people thinking about how they will actually apply person-centered principles and other training they have learned in the process of culture change in the organization.
DESCRIPTION
Teams, and especially formal leaders, will translate new values and principles into actions and acknowledge those actions,
putting emphasis on follow-through and pointing out positive behaviors. This is a good game to do around the time culture change has started to spread throughout the organi- zation and some training and talk has gone around about “culture change principles.”

TIME
10-15 minutes for intro with spillover into coming workdays
SUPPLIES
flip chart and markers, pens and paper
Steps:
• Explain that the organization is committed to deep penetration of new ways of doing things, but we must make sure we “walk the talk” – all of us, and actually put into everyday practice what we are learning.
• Ask for volunteers to give examples of “culture change principles” that have been introduced to the organization, especially those that value team and shared leadership and decision-making. List the examples offered on a flip chart leaving a good space below each one. Once you have a good-sized list, break the large group into smaller groups of 4-6. Ask each group to take a principle and brainstorm examples of behaviors that would exemplify each principle and
write them down.
• After 5 minutes, bring every one back to the large group and share what they came up with.
Record their examples under the principles on the original flip chart.
• Explain that now it is time to walk the talk. Over the next week (or month, or year)
encourage people to point out when they see someone exemplifying one of these behaviors by simply saying to them “walkin the talk.” It may seem a little silly, but by acknowledging those behaviors, people will see that change really is happening (or not happening, in which case
you might want to type up the principles and the examples and hand them out to folks as a gentle reminder). The positive reinforcement this practice gives never hurts either.
