significant role of Convenor for MLTAV’s Annual Conference. Through MLTAV, Heather has also been involved in various projects, including: CSF 2 and VELS Working Parties; VELS Progression Points; Development of the Victorian and Australian Curriculums; AFMLTA Train-the-Trainer; LanguagesHat; Mentoring; advisory committee for the Victorian Intercultural Language Teaching and Learning in Practice.
Throughout Heather’s career as a Languages educator, she has been committed to a life-long learning approach to her teaching, embracing all PL opportunities available to her. She has also inspired passion for the profession in many ‘next-generation’ languages teachers through her modelling of excellence in both the classroom and her involvement with Professional Teacher Associations.

Whilst Heather has formally stepped down from formal Executive / Committee duties in 2020, she will remain connected to the Association as a Life Member and also continue to assist by being co-opted to support the Annual Conference and publications.
This has certainly been an exciting year for Heather, having enjoyed some well-earned long service leave from her position at Heany Park Primary School. She has also indulged her passion for new experiences (The Ghan) and travel (Indonesia) and was also delighted to be awarded with a Certificate of Recognition of 40 years of Service to teaching in Victoria.
This Award was presented to Heather on 21 July, 2019 by The Hon James Merlino MP, Deputy Premier, Minister for Education at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Melbourne CBD.
