learning; Multiple Choice, Multiple Answer, True or False, Fill in the Blank, Matching, Ordering, Categorisation, Stimulus and Hot Spot. Self-correcting quizzes offer instant feedback and the opportunity for students to self- regulate. General feedback is added for students to gain a greater understanding of their language development.
Collaborative assessment
Italian students are working collaboratively on a project-based learning activity focussed on Commedia dell’arte plays. Collaborative weekly tasks culminate in a live performance to an authentic audience.
German students are using Book Creator to curate individual student research on German cities and profiles of themselves and their families based on language learnt in the course. These books are peer-reviewed which further developed accessing and responding skills.
Ongoing evaluation
Feedback from teachers and students using the new courses has been very positive. Evaluations show students are engaged in the learning process and feel that their learning outcomes are being achieved. Through ongoing evaluations, NSL will continually improve the courses to ensure students’ and teachers’ needs are met.
For the new prescribed HSC texts, NSL has also developed Year 12 Extension courses which are ready for the first cohort of students. New Year 10 courses are being finalised for 2020 and plans are being developed for updated Year 11 courses.
