 Lights! Camera! Action!
This year MLTA NSW conducted the 14th Linguafest short film competition. Over the years, many Government, Independent, Catholic and Community schools from across NSW have incorporated the Linguafest competition as an integral part of their teaching and learning programs in Languages. Students in Stages 3, 4 and 5 utilise their language skills, combined with their digital movie making skills to create a two minute video in the language they are studying. Following the format of the Tropfest competition, the film needed to be based on the theme “A Mystery” and somewhere in the film students need to have “a ticket”
This year 47 films were received in a wide variety of languages across the Stages. Films are marked according to language accuracy, creativity and interpretation of the theme and film quality. The judging panel had a challenging task to decide the finalists and prize-winners. Winners of each Stage and awards such as Highly Commended, Best drama, Best editing, Best concept, Most authentic, Best animation, Best comedy, Best narrative are awarded.
