P. 30
The crow perched itself on a branch of a cherry tree where
it contemplated its next meal; however, ideas were few and
far between, and it feared the moment when its stomach
would begin to rumble. Before the crow could brace itself, a
gust of wind ripped through the tree and knocked the
unsuspecting bird off balance. At the same time, its foot
became trapped by a freshly sprouted stem. The crow at
first flapped its wings fervently as it tried with all its might
to free itself or at least resume an upright position, but it
was of no use —it was stuck. Giving in to its situation, the
crow relaxed its wings and released them to the forces of
gravity. The world looked very different from this
perspective thought the crow as the landscape appeared
fresh and new. The bird noticed how the colors and the
plants on the ground appeared, and as it marveled at the
scene within inches of its eyes, it saw new opportunities,
including once, overlooked bugs and fallen fruit. An
eagerness to enjoy all abundance the environment offered
replaced the worry the crow initially felt of having a
rumbling stomach. Just as the crow became comfortable in
its position, the stems gave way —and the crow landed on
its next meal.
General Message
Sometimes there are forces beyond our control that hold
up progress or require us to put a plan on hold. Getting
your knickers in a twist isn't going to change the situation
and will only result in frustration. Take this forced time-
out as an opportunity to see your situation from a different
perspective; the time may reveal new insights that you had
overlooked.
