When Trevor came to us, he’d never been in a classroom. He had no siblings, and he’d been at home with Mom for months because of COVID-19.
He had minimal experience with other children. Trevor would sometimes run from classroom to classroom, trying to get outside. He was unable to sit still during class activities without the help of an adult.
Trevor had a limited vocabulary and had no way to express himself other than with his actions. He had developed some aggressive behaviors because he couldn’t communicate well with those around him. Our Teaching Team, Trevor’s Family Advocate, his mom, the school department, and our Mental Health Team worked together to develop a plan to address all of Trevor’s issues and support him academically and emotionally.
Trevor has made fantastic progress in a short time. In just a few months, he’s increased his vocabulary, has learned to follow directions, and has made remarkable progress with sitting still during group activities.
What Trevor needs most now is consistent, in-person attention from his teachers and therapists.
