Dear Friends We are pleased to present the the 2017-2018 Annual Report of the the Children’s Friend Dental Dental Program Time has flown by and we have just completed our fifth year of this visionary partnership with Samuels Sinclair Dental Dental Center at Rhode Island Hospital We are very proud of of of of the the the the progress we have have made since the the the the inception of of of of this this partnership and and could not have have achieved it it without the the the the leadership and and and dedication of of of of all of of of of the the the the participants who make this this work: Samuels Sinclair Dental Center team team our our our our our Board our our our our our Child Care Partners our our our our our incredible teaching and and and and and nursing staff and and and and and and our our our our our very own leadership team team in in in in in particular David Caprio our our our our our President and and and and and and CEO and and and and and and Maria Chionchio Nurse Family Partnership Manager We also acknowledge and and and and and and and thank the the children and and and and and and and families who have embraced visits from the the the dentist and and and and and and hygienist and and and and and and taken an an an an an an an an an active role in in in in practicing and and and and promoting oral health – they are what make this program so eminently worthwhile and and and and successful Since the the the the first year year of of of of this this partnership we we have worked hard to to promote the the the the importance of of of of a a a a a a a a a a a a dental home1 and and increase the the the the the number of of of of of children children with access to to to one At the the the the the end of of of of of this this program year year we we are are pleased to to share that 91% of of of currently enrolled Head Start and and Pre-K children children have a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a dental home home either through Samuels Sinclair or or a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a private dentist This is is is a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a significant increase since the first year when approximately 60% of students reported a a a a a a a a a dental home Our innovative sealant sealant sealant project project has continued to expand This program year 41 children children received received sealants sealants which is is is nearly four times the the number of children children who received received sealants sealants in in in in in the the project’s pilot year We look forward to to seeing this project continue to to grow As you will read in in in in in in the the the following pages Children’s Friend continues to to emphasize the the the importance of oral health health within a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a holistic health health context We are excited to to enhance current efforts in in in in in in the the the the the coming program year with with with the the the the implementation of of a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a designated “Dental Team” that will spearhead the the the the Children’s Friend partnership with with Samuels and improve coordination of of dental health services across the the the agency This program year year we we are are excited to to to share that 41% of of enrolled children children or 70 children children under the the age of of three received dental dental services services In the the the coming year year we we plan to to to to to to continue expanding access to to to to to to dental dental services services to to to to to our our infant and and toddler population a a a a a a a a a a a a a big step toward improving the the healthy development of children in in our our program As always we look forward to to to sharing sharing the the the highlights of the the the 2017-2018 program year year in in in in in this report – and to to to sharing sharing continued successes in in in in the the years to to to come Thank you!
