Ken Hewett knows about logistics After spending 20 years in in the the the U S Navy he he he he entered the the the field of medical practice management and and has spent the the the past
15 years putting his managerial and and logistical skills to good use keeping dental offices running smoothly In 2013 Ken became the Practice Manager at at Samuels Sinclair Dental Center sharing that he he “was lucky enough for an an an an an opportunity to to come to to Rhode Island Hospital [and work with] a a a a a a a a a a a a group of of extremely professional and and caring folks ” Ken Ken is is is is is integral to the the the the success of of the the the the Dental Program partnership with Children’s Children’s Friend In his role as Practice Manager Ken Ken coordinates the the the the scheduling of of of the the the the dentists and and hygienists who visit each Children’s Children’s Friend Friend and and and Child Child Child Care Partner site from September to to to to May making it it it it possible for hundreds of of children to to to to receive a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a dental exam and and cleaning every school year Working together with Children’s Friend Friend staff to to to to improve coordination of of services Ken has seen the the the the program grow “There was a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a lot of of thought process
at at at the the the the beginning We had to to to think about how how the the the the equipment would would be be sterilized how how we would would get toothbrushes to to to to the the the the children children so many things Now that this partnership [Children’s Friend and Samuels] have have have have been working together for almost five years we have have have have seen seen an an an an an increase in in in in children children We now see see see Early Head Start kids have have have have seen seen the the the the sealant program program grow and and have have have have had successful dental fairs where we reach many many children children and and and families families at at at the the the the same time ” A highlight of the the the the program program Ken says is that that no children children are turned away and and that that Samuels Sinclair Dental Center becomes for many many families families their entry point to accessing dental services The partnership with with Children’s Friend has been successful Ken shares because “we have have the opportunity to to interface with with with people who are are are just as as as as passionate and and caring as as as as we we are are are We We have have the the the same goals in in in in in in mind regarding children and and and being able to to educate families We We communicate with with each other we we don’t look at this program as as ‘you and and I’ but as as ‘we’ ” Children’s Friend is proud to to to be be part part of of that “we” and and and to to to have such a a a a a a a a a a a a a a rewarding partnership with Samuels Sinclair Dental Center Together we we we work to to to improve the the health and and and wellbeing of of children and and and families!
