‘’I am very sad because this evening my master is having a big party with lots of friends. Tomorrow morning I can’t sing. My master’s friends want to sleep and I must be quiet!’’ says the rooster. ‘’Don’t worry! Come with us to Bremen, the town of music. You can become a singer,’’ says the donkey. The donkey, the dog, the cat and the rooster continue their road. Then the donkey sees something. There is a twinkle behind a tree. ‘’What is this?’’ asks the donkey. ‘’It looks like the light of a star.’’says the dog. ‘’No, it looks like the light of the moon!’’ says the cat. ‘’No, you are wrong! It looks like the light of a fire,’’ says the rooster. ‘’Let’s go and see!’’ says the donkey. They walk and see a house with lights in the windows. The donkey goes up the window. ‘’What can you see?’’ ask the animals. ‘’I can see a big table and a lot of food!’’ says the donkey. ‘’What is on the table?’’ ask the animals. ‘’I can see a roast chicken with potatoes. I can also see a big cake! I can see a jar of milk, bread and butter, BUT ....’’ says the donkey. ‘’I can see four big men sitting at the table. They are wearing black masks. OH NO! They are ROBBERS!’’ ‘’We are not afraid of robbers!’’ say the animals. ‘’I have got an idea! Let’s scare robbers with a lot of noise. We can all shout very loud!’’ says the rooster. ‘’GREAT! Let us we all stay close together?’’ says the dog. ‘’Yes!’’ says the donkey. 53
