So the dog jumps on the donkey’s back, the cat climbs on the dog’s back, and the rooster flies up and sits on the cat’s head. Then the animals start making noise! HEE-HAW, HEE-HAW! WOOF, WOOF! MIAOW, MIAOW! COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO! The robbers hear the loud noise and open the window. They see something very big in the dark. ‘’It’s a MONSTER!!! Let’s run!’’ shout the robbers. The robbers run across the bridge and through the fields. Then they stop. They are tired and hungry. ‘’I think the monster is sleeping now.’’ says one of the robbers. ‘’Shall we go back?’’ asks another robber. ‘’I want to finish my dinner.’’ So they go back to the house. There are lights in the windows and everything is quiet. The animals are eating in the house. ‘’What a delicious cake!’’says the donkey. ‘’I like a roast chicken,’’says the dog. ‘’My favorite is milk,’’says the cat. ‘’Shall we celebrate this special dinner and sing a song?’’says the rooster. HEE-HAW, HEE-HAW! WOOF, WOOF! MIAOW, MIAOW! COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO! The robbers hear the loud noise and they are scared again. The run away. ‘’I like this place!’’ says the donkey. ‘’Let’s go to Bremen or shall we stay in here?’’ ‘’Let’s stay here! The house is nice and the food is great!’’they all say. ‘’We can sing all night and day!’’says the rooster. 54
