H. E. Dr. Vjosa Osmani Sadriu
PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOSOVO
Dr. Vjosa Osmani Sadriu is the sixth President of the Republic of Kosovo, elected on April 4, 2021. She previously served as Speaker of Par- liament, Acting President, and has been elected to five consecutive terms as a Member of Parlia- ment. A graduate of the University of Prishtina Faculty of Law, she holds a Master’s and Doc- torate in international law from the University of Pittsburgh.
As President, she serves as Commander-in- Chief of the Kosovo Security Force and leads the country’s foreign policy. A strong advocate for justice reform, she is dedicated to women’s rights, youth empowerment, and inclusion of marginalized communities.
President Osmani has championed Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic path, receiving the 2024 European Prize and the M100 Media Award for her com- mitment to democracy, equality, and the rule of law—becoming the first Balkan leader to earn the latter.
Earlier in her career, she served as Chief of Staff and Senior Legal Advisor to President Fat- mir Sejdiu, contributing to Kosovo’s constitu- tional drafting and its case before the International Court of Justice. A seasoned aca- demic, she has taught law at the University of Prishtina, RIT Kosovo, and as a visiting profes- sor at the University of Pittsburgh.
