Terry Brady
Terry's preferred art medium is light. He is a photographer. He
doesn't favor one particular genre of photography but enjoys cap-
turing images of whatever strikes him as having inherent beauty
at that time and place. His photography includes many subjects
like landscapes, flowers, people, water, and snow.
For over 40 years, he was fortunate to have had a career that in-
volved a lot of traveling throughout the United States and several
other parts of the world. He usually carried a camera on these travels. On his return, he en-
joyed sharing his photos with relatives. When his acquaintances were asking for copies of his
photos it motivated him to get serious about photography.
He has taken a few formal classes, but is mostly self-taught through many books and availa-
ble tools and training on the internet.
He is attracted to the beautiful colors inherent in nature. He also loves the colorful objects and
clothing he sees in his travels throughout Latin America, Hawaii, and the Galapagos.
Terry tries to capture the photo the way he sees it, to minimize the need to enhance it with filters
and other post processing. He will use the tools available in the digital photography labs to bring out
a feature in an image, to adjust the perception or mood of the photo or to make a photograph look
more like a painting or some other artistic effect. He will also edit a photo when a client wants a
family photo to have a special effect such as an old-time look with the various sepia tones the
digital labs provide.
He likes to experiment with various subjects and media to show and share his photo art. For
example, he has put his photos on clay tiles, glass, metal, and canvas. He is on the steering
committee for Shutterbugs Special Interest Group where he shares his photography knowledge
and his travel photos and he maintains the SIG’s photo sharing Facebook page.
