And when you enter houses, greet one another with a
greeting from Allah, blessed and good. In this way Allah
makes the Signs clear to you so that, hopefully, you will
use your intellect. (Surat An-Nur: 61)
The Gospel contains similar instructions, such as:
As you enter the home, give it your greeting. (Matthew, 10: 12)
... Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with
you!"… Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! (John, 20: 19,21)
The Torah discusses this subject as follows:

The Lord said to Moses, "Tell Aaron and his sons, 'This is how
you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: " ' "The Lord bless you
and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gra-
cious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you
                     peace." '
... Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be se-
cure. May there be peace within your walls and security within
your citadels." For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will say,
"Peace be within you." (Psalm, 122, 6-8)
… wrote to all the peoples, nations and men of every language
throughout the land: "May you prosper greatly! (Daniel, 6: 25)

                                    Avoiding Envy

.. But people are prone to selfish greed. If you do good
and have fear of Allah, Allah is aware of what you do.
                     (Surat An-Nisa: 128)

Say: "I seek refuge with the Lord of Daybreak, from the
evil of what He has created, from the evil of the darkness
when it gathers, from the evil of women who blow on
