ORB WEAVER SPIDER AND FLY
Age: 50 million years
Period: Eocene
Location: Poland
These spiders, members of the family Araneidae,
have white spots on their backs. Another important
feature of theirs is that they weave round webs. The
spider and the fly here preserved in amber are 50
million years old. With their structures that have re-
mained unchanged for tens of millions of years,
these creatures defy the theory of evolution.
