though a common misconception is that cannabis eliminates pain completely, so it is good to have reasonable ex-
pectations. It’s important to note that often cannabis is more of a “pain distancer” than reliever. Imagine someone
putting your discomfort into a backpack and put it “over there”, away from you, although you are still aware of its
existence.
Still, cannabis use can significantly improve your quality of life while it takes a significant burden and trauma
from your liver, and for many it does completely eradicate their symptoms. This relief allows people get back out
into the real world and interact with it in a way that can be called living life to the fullest. Something that was
taken away from us during a time of cannabis prohibition, and we must never allow that access to be revoked.
Becoming vocal about the benefits you now enjoy as a result of medical cannabis is imperative to alter public
perception for ourselves and neighboring states. This time of Oklahoma cannabis is often referred to as the “Wild
West” which is something that happens time and time again during implementation as states go medically legal,
so it is important to ask for testing to avoid pesticides, mold, and heavy metals which could escalate your condi-
tion.
It is also imperative to remember that the legislature is watching, and our actions and use of medical cannabis are
being scrutinized, while our health, life, and liberty are intertwined with legal access. The lives of so many of our
beloved citizens are dependent on legal access which provides “Protection from incarceration” while medicating
with cannabis. It is important to stay involved and aware with what is happening at the state legislature and on
the national front. Do not become complacent and look away as we must protect our ability to free ourselves
from the chains of opiate dependency and begin to live our lives to the fullest.
