discussion. Erwyn Naidoo, S/V Azura, an experienced cruiser and off-shore racer, led us through some of his favourite weather apps, such as My RadarPro, Weather4D, Lightening, and AeroWeatherLite. All but the first are available at no charge. Erwyn pointed out that we consider getting our weather from the meteorologist right at Toronto Airport! The audience then broke into two discussion groups going with either Erwyn or Catherine and Michael for even more depth on app usage.
We had conducted an email survey of members prior to the seminar and Sara Morton, S/V Dinonysius led us through the results which showed divided reaction toward apps by our members. Some loved them and used them often, especially for weather and
anchoring, others used Navionics to complement their GPS, and one member used apps solely. Almost all the Members agreed that paper charts should be on the boat. Mention was made of the possibility of a follow- up hands-on session in early summer. Well done to Catherine, Michael, Erwyn and Sara.
Michael’s slides of the presentation are available on the RCYC website under CSS Reports Section.
