February 4th: DIY Essentials of a Cruising Season - Catherine Kierans and Michael Egberts
Join popular speakers Catherine Kierans and Michael Egberts to learn how they kept Big Lou, their first keel boat, in that good condition by carrying out necessary DIY projects over the last three seasons. Big Lou’s (a 1987 C&C 33 MK11) pre-purchase survey three years ago stated that she was ”in good overall condition and suitable for its intended use of cruising”. They talk about updates done including electrical, fiberglass repairs, restoration of gelcoat, sewing repairs, refinishing brightwork and their lessons learned along the way.
March 3rd: Emergency Procedures in Local Waters - Erwyn Naidoo
More from last year’s sought after speaker, Erwyn Naidoo, as he headlines an evening examining the question of emergency procedures on your boat in Toronto Harbour and around the Island. Learn what local resources are available if you require outside assistance. What is your plan to rescue your crew and yourself? What is your boat plan to call for help and prepare for that arrival? Join a lively discussion and learn how to be a better prepared sailor.
April 7th: Sailing in Scandinavia - Amanda and Peter Balasubramanian and Bob and Sally Medland
This evening, we will whet your appetite for cruising abroad. The Balasubramanians cruised with their daughters, Cate and Annie, through the North Sea from The Netherlands to Haderslev, Denmark, sailing in their own new XC50 passing through rivers, canals and different seas to the Danish archipelago. Sharing the podium will be the Medlands who, with friends, chartered a 50’ Beneteau from Stockholm through the Stockholm Archipelago.
