3. Most mooring cleats are open at the base to allow the spliced-in loops
of mooring lines to be made fast easily. To do so, feed the eye through
the opening (1), then loop it back over both horns and pull the line taut
(2). Another eye can be looped to the same cleat if led through from the
opposite direction.
