1. Begin work on the monkey’s fist by laying the line across the palm of
the left hand so that about 10 inches remain as the standing part. Secure
the standing part with the base of your thumb; make a total of four turns
with the working part around the hand in the direction of the arrow. This
completes the first set of turns for the monkey’s fist.
2. To start the second set, ease the first set down toward the fingertips,
still gripping the turns with the thumb. The working end is now ready to
be turned (arrow) around the first set and at right angles to it.
