Rhythm/Rhyme: “My Father Was A Butcher”

• MF performs rhyme:
“My father was a butcher

My mother cut the meat
And I’m the little hotdog
That runs down the street.”

• “Let’s all try it together”
• “What did the mother do in the rhyme?” (cut the meat)
• Repeat rhyme, listening for what the hotdog does (runs down the street)

• Repeat rhyme patting the beat on laps
• Pat beat on shoulders and repeat rhyme
• “When you pat your lap or shoulders, you’re keeping the ?” (steady
beat)
• Repeat rhyme two more times, keeping the beat on laps and then shoulders
