Rhythm/Rhyme: “Jack Be Nimble”
• MM performs rhyme:
“Jack be nimble, Jack be quick,
Jack jump over the candle stick.”
• MM invites all S to join and listen for what Jack jumped over
• “Did you hear what Jack jumped over?” (the candle stick)
• Add actions to go with rhyme
• Speak rhyme two more times with actions
• Pat the steady beat while speaking rhyme
• MM & MF review “Hey Diddle Diddle” and pat the beat
• MM accompanies on drum: accompany – to join in or go along with
• Repeat rhyme, accompanied by drum
• Perform both rhymes with drum – S encouraged to pat laps
• “Performing two different rhymes, but keeping the same “ (beat)

Pause for Practice
S perform “Jack be Nimble” without and then with beat-patting
S perform “Hey Diddle Diddle” without and then with beat-patting
S pat the beat and perform the two rhymes, one after the other
Resume Video
“Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”
• MM & MF sing song
• Repeat song, with MM accompanying on the step bells, and MF twinkling hands to
the beat
