COLLEGE PREPARATION
Windsor High School offers a variety of opportunities for students to enhance their preparation for college while still in high school.
DUAL-CREDIT/CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT
Colorado’s concurrent enrollment programs allow students to earn college credit by taking college-level courses (including career and technical courses) in high school.
In partnership with the University of Northern Colorado, students can participate in college-level coursework at Windsor High School. Students earn dual credits (both high school and college credits) and get the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skill levels and experience college-level academic rigor. Courses vary by semester, but may include geology, literature, Spanish, algebra, calculus, and composition.
Through a partnership with Aims Community College, students can participate in criminal justice and EMT dual-credit courses on the Windsor High School campus. They can also earn college credits and explore career options in a program called Career Academy. Career Academy provides training in career and technical education programs, such as automotive service technology, collision repair, audio production, graphic design, med-prep, and oil and gas technology. Eligible participants can earn a certi cate in the program of their choice.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT® (AP)
AP classes are designed to prepare Windsor High School students for the rigors of college-level work. Students can choose from 10 AP courses in topics ranging from biology to psychology and United States history. After our students complete an AP class, they can take the AP exam. Depending on their scores and the colleges they attend, students can earn academic credit or “test out” of college classes.
