Thanh Dong Vegetable Village

Short drive out of town to the countryside. Visit the home of a
fishing basket maker and learn how these iconic round bamboo
boats are fabricated with ancestral techniques. Continue further
into the countryside and visit the vegetable growers’ village
in Thanh Dong. Meet the villagers and learn how they grow
tropical vegetable and herbs for daily consumption and later
taste some freshly cooked sweet potatoes.

Have fun with a short boat ride on Hoi An river using the
bamboo fishing basket and rowing oars. Leave the boat and
land at a riverside restaurant beautifully surrounded with rice
fields, where we learn some Vietnamese cooking techniques
and have lunch. Enjoy some relaxing time in the beautiful
surroundings before going back to Hoi An.

Overnight Trip to Hue

Day 1: Hoi An – Hue
Drive out of town and take the Pass of Cloud over the
mountains to the northern side of the imposing range of Bach
Ma. Sharp turn down hill and follow the coastal Route 49B to
have the scenic scenery of Tam Giang Lagoon. En route visit
Tuy Van Temple and the cemetery in An Bang, an impressive
manifestation of the local after-life belief. Overnight in Hue.

Day 2: Hue – Hoi An
Sightseeing in Hue. Take a dragon boat to cruise up the Huong
River and visit the Buddhist temple of Thien Mu. Drive back to
town and visit the Citadel of Hue including the main gate, the
throne hall, the 9 bronze urns. Experience Buddhist lifestyle
with a healthy vegetarian lunch at Dong Thuyen Temple and an
interesting conversation about Buddha’s teachings with a nun.
Continue the trip and visit the imperial tomb of King Tu Duc.
Drive back to Hoi An following Route 1A via Lap An Lagoon.
