A Good Start
We opened our season with a well earned 2-1 victory against Wells City.
Perksy gave debuts to strikers Danny Dodimead & Dean Griffiths. The side
had a familiar look with players from last season choosing to stay despite us
stepping down a league & no doubt offers from other clubs.
We started on the front foot and pushed from the start playing good
football throughout the team.
Full back Lewis Ewins & Harry Tobin we’re finding space out wide and did
well to support going forward giving the forward line of Joe McLennan,
Griffiths & Dodimead the chance to play a high line and push the visitors
defence deep.
Our first chance came on 16mins good work on the le from Tobin whose
cross was headed in by Griffiths only for the flag to go up.
It was inevitable a goal would come we were controlling the game across
the pitch White & Barwood in the middle of the defence we’re dealing with
everything.
The midfield 3 of Ricke s, Kington & Dunn were making space & using the
ball well.
On 25mins Tobin found space on the edge of the box and his shot just
skimmed the bar.
On 28mins we got our reward when a Kington cross was met at the back
post by Captain Asa White. His header back across the keeper was superb
as it looped over him to finish in the back of the net. 1-0
On 31mins it was 2-0. Griffiths closed down well to win the ball. His pass
released Dodimead who slipped in between the defence and finished well.
We con nued to press looking for a 3rd but to no avail and went in at HT
with a 2-0 lead.
We came out to start the 2nd half much as we had played the first and
con nued to push.
We had a great effort the ball was being played around well around the
visitors box and a lovely ball found Dunn in space only to see his shot saved.
The build up play really deserved more.
We con nued to create good chance. Griffiths found space in the box on to
see his shot saved.
Next up was the impressive Tobin whose effort from the edge of the box
