Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum

Good afternoon & welcome to the Lancer Scott
for this afternoon’s visit of Bridport. I hope their
supporters, officials and players enjoy the day
with us and have a safe journey home to south
       Dorset.
Right, Here is a short version, I could write a
       book!!

I hope you all join me in welcoming new
manager Tony Beecham, assistant Jim Williams
and coach Ryan Perrett to Ashton & Backwell
utd FC. All the committee are extremely pleased
that Tony agreed to join us. I finally got my
man!! I first approached Beech in April when
Stu Jones decided to move on. Unfortunately
for us he had just agreed to join Hallen Fc in a management role. (Before Hallen,
Tony was assistant manager at Southern League Bristol Manor Farm, prior to that
he was 1 team manager at Cribbs in the Premier Division for 4 years.) We then
               st
appointed Charlie Rich who decided 2 days before the season started that it
       wasn’t for him. CHEERS THEN!!
This is supposed to be our hobby but the last 7 weeks have been very stressful
to say the least, as we have our businesses and families but football seemed to
overtake everything. I will be eternally grateful to Matt, Nick, Radders and Charlie
Cole who stepped in to help run both teams and keep the players spirits up. All 4
were very unselfish, where other manager’s egos and agenda’s would have
prevented the co-operation to keep the club going in a very difficult period. I
appreciate the commitment shown by the players, some of whom have turned
       down other clubs and £s.
Beech wasted no time in doubling up training sessions and introducing new faces
to the squad. Finally results matched performances with last Saturday’s 2-1 FA
Vase victory over local rivals Brislington, a cup tie upset it certainly wasn’t, it was
thoroughly deserved. Please see the report later in the programme.

A look at the league table will tell how important today’s game is, A “6 pointer”
in October, and an early opportunity to revenge the 2-1 defeat 5 weeks ago, to
                         st
give Bridport their 1 victory of the season. We saw it as a missed opportunity.
It’s going to be a tough one, hopefully entertaining and 3 points for the Stags.
Thank you for your support today, enjoy the game, please respect the officials.

        UP The STAGS
       Mike,

        Chairman.
