                              Helston Athletic 3
                          Ashton & Backwell Utd 2

We left Bristol at 8:45, heading for our first ever visit to Helston for a 370 mile
round trip. However for the first 30 minutes of this league game it would seem
our players left their legs on the coach somewhere on the A30. Thankfully
Coomber was on top form in goal and Helston’s finishing perhaps wasn’t at their
        best.

In the opening 10 minutes Helston had four very good opportunities to take the
lead, twice shooting wide and two very good saves from Lewis. On 15 mins.
Helston were awarded a penalty, Billy Tucker stepped up but his effort was again
        well saved.

Helston finally took the lead after 25 minutes with Tucker firing low into the
                                                                            Meet the Player
corner. 2 minutes later they doubled the lead with a long ball from Tucker which
wasn’t defended very well and Ryan Turner rounded Coomber to score.

On the half-hour mark Beech made two substitutions, bringing on Charlie and
Conner Saunders, when we could’ve easily been 4 or 5 nil down. We started
competing in midfield and half-time managed to keep it to a two-goal deficit.

The second 45 minutes saw a completely different Ashton Backwell side, in fact
the neutral wouldn’t have been able to tell who was 3rd in the table and who was
near the bottom. Charlie got us back in the game with a good header from a
great freekick from Rugs. We continued to press the home defence and were
rewarded with an equaliser on 73 minutes. 25 yards from goal, Connor collected
a clearance, switched to his left foot and his well struck shot found the bottom
corner of the net, keeper no chance. The lads really felt they could get something
from the game but their hopes were dashed when home substitute, Stuart
Bowker hit an absolute left foot screamer from 30 yards into the top corner giving
Lewis no chance, to make the score 3-2 and give his side all 3 points.

I felt we deserved something out of the game, we had good support down there,
thanks to all of you who came down and a great atmosphere on the coach going
back which went someway for making up for the result and a very long day .
