(Bemerton won 5-4 on penalties)
Buidbase F A Vase First Round
We welcomed the Salisbury-based side, Bemerton Heath
harlequins to the Lancer Scott stadium for our first ever meeting.
Whilst it was 0-0 over 90 minutes, I felt it was a very enthralling,
competitive 0-0. The visitors probably had the better opportunities
in the first half but were thwarted by a couple of good defensive
blocks by Billy Devoy. Miles had our best chance of the half,
shooting narrowly wide from 20 yards.
The second-half saw us come out much stronger and within
minutes Tomo had a header cleared off the line, their keeper
produced 2 saves from Skidz and Sam Price forced an even better
save with his 20 yard effort. Conor Hartley saw his curling shot well
saved. Bemerton then hit the woodwork.
With no extra time, it was straight to penalties. Bish, Tomo, Miles
and Ginge we all successful, at 5-4, our keeper, Coomber stepped
up but saw his effort well saved. Bemerton went into the hat for the
second round and drew out a home tie versus Clevedon town, We
wish them all the best in a cup run.
