A Great Start!
Street 1 Brislington 3 A 107
The first game of season saw us come away with 3 points with a hardworking performance
from the team.
Perksy gave debuts to Jordan Scadding, Asa White, Callum Heal with Kain Edmondson on
the bench. George Jones started upfront on his return to the club and a er an impressive
6 goals in pre season.
Street started on the front foot and a er 6mins Callum Heal made a brilliant double save
to deny the home side the lead. Heal was impressive throughout making good saves at
crucial mes in the game.
We gradually grew into the game and on 14mins the hardworking Scadding charged down
the the home sides keepers a empted clearance. The ball fell kindly to Jones who rolled
the ball in from 18 yards to make it 1-0.
The game was now a more even affair but neither side could create clear cut chances. Heal
was called into ac on on a couple of occasions coping well with efforts from range.
Harry Tobin was star ng to find space on the le but just couldn’t find the decisive ball into
the box.
The midfield pairing of Prangley & Nuevo- Draper were constantly looking for the ball as
well as breaking up the play & protec ng the back four.
Niggly li le fouls were creeping in and the Referee was probably guilty of being a bit over
zealous with his decision making.
10mins before half me we were dealt a blow when Conor Mccormack picked up a thigh
injury. Ryan Bath replaced him with Barwood going to centre half, White to right back &
Jones to the right hand side.
HT 0-1
We knew we were not quite showing the quality we had showed in pre season and would
have to raise our game if we were to take 3pts from the game.
It only took the home side 5mins to find an equaliser. Captain Sco Lewis misjudged the
bounce of the ball to allow the Street forward in to finish well to make it 1-1.
We then raised our game and we’re star ng to probe but we were probably guilty of not
suppor ng Bath enough when he got the ball.
We then changed our shape. On 66mins Edmondson came on for Tobin on the right with
Scadds going to the le & Jones going up top with Bath. Edmondson showed his pace with
couple of decent runs into dangerous areas.
We were now moving the ball well. And star ng to look like we would find the 2nd goal.
On 75mins the home side conceded a free kick in a dangerous posi on. Prangs’s stepped
up to put the ball in the top le corner giving the keeper no chance to make it 2-1.
Heal then made another crucial save to keep us in front when he was le one on one with
the striker.
On 80mins we made the game safe good work on the le by the impressive Scadding
enabled him to square the ball to Jones in the box who put the ball through the keepers
legs for his 2nd of the game & to make it 3-1.
The home side s ll tried to find a way back into to the games but the back four were
resolute and held firm to see out the game for us to take the 3 points.
FT 1-3
A hardworking performance from every player who all contributed to the result. And a first
win at Street as manager for Perksy.
We now move on to Tuesday night when we face our nearest rivals Keynsham Town, who
started the season with 3-0 win over Ashton & Backwell. We know we are in for a tough
game.
