Odd Down (Bath) v Bris

It took 30 minutes, but the deadlock was finally broken by Jordan Scadding, who lost his
marker to head in a lovely cross from Lewis Ewins making it 0-1 for the visitors.
Three minutes later it was 0-2, when a ball in to Griffiths on the edge of the box was flicked
‘around the corner‘ to Doddimead who drove the ball low to the keepers right from just
inside the Penalty area, the keeper making contact but to no avail.
Half Time Odd Down 0-2 Brislington
The second half con nued as the first had finished with the visitors in total control, the
game being played almost en rely in the hosts half!
It s ll took 15 minutes to add number three. A er a sustained spell of pressure Lewis Dunn
was upended in the box for a penalty which was duly dispatched by Captain Jordan
Ricke s. Odd Down 0-3 Brislington.
We had to wait a further 15 minutes for number four. Subs tutes Egan, Smith and Tobin
had replaced Jones, Withey and Williams and it was Egan’s flatly drilled corner that found
Dean Griffiths who had out jumped everyone to nod in his third of the season and
       Brislington’s fourth on the day.
At this point the home sides resistance pre y much collapsed. 76 minutes played 0-4.
The young stand in Odd Down players had s ll not given up but chasing shadows for the
best part of 75 minutes had taken its toll and the Visitors took advantage.
On 78 minutes Egan fired in a superb free kick from just outside the box, hammering his
right foot effort into the keeper’s top le corner, giving him absolutely no chance.
The Sixth was also a thing of Beauty, coming on 88 minutes from Danny Doddimead who
picked up Mclennan’s short pass a er good work on the right flank, then picked his spot
unleashing a twenty-yard le footed pearler, which again gave the keeper no chance.
Doddimead’s second goal definitely compe ng with Egan’s cracker for goal of the game!
The Foxes hadn’t quite finished at six, and a seventh soon arrived curtesy of an own goal.
Joe McLennan, who had ran both full backs at mes completely ragged (even if at mes
despite easier op ons being available) received the ball a er good work between Egan and
Tobin, on the le and his sharp turn and cross was diverted in to the near post by a
defender deceiving his goalkeeper who was readying himself to collect.
Full Time: Odd Down 0-7 Brislington
To sum up, this was a literal ’Men Vs Boys‘ match up. I’m sure the young Odd Down team
will have learned a lot from this encounter, and hopefully many of them con nue on at this
level and beyond, but for the Foxes, every three points are vital, as is goal difference and it
was very much a professional performance.
