Avonmouth 18’s 2 Bristol Spartak 1 Sun 28th
Avonmouth took a depleted squad away to arguably one of the strongest
teams in the league. The previous fixture saw Spartak Run out 4-1 winners.
Avonmouth knew if they won today then they would have the league in
their own hands. An illness ran through the team and Avonmouth went to
the game with 12 players.
A good game was spoilt when Spartak’s striker kicked Avonmouth’s Liam
Poole in the head and was shown a red card. Avonmouth scored 2 mins
later with the captain Ben Walters scoring a rare goal.
The 18’s controlled the game with Spartak down to 10 only for injuries to
come into play and no subs to come on. A late red Card for Ben Walters
bringing down his last man made things nervous at the end but James Ellis
sealed the points to take us top with a calm finish at the end of the game.
Avonmouth 18’s Vs Cribbs 18’s
Sunday’s game was always going to be a close game with it being 1st vs
2nd.
Avonmouth had their regular GK out with illness so Reece Bartlett was in
the sticks for Sunday’s game.
The boys knew a win today would take them into next week’s game with
Spartak being a title decider.
Cribbs come out fast with them having the first chance of the day going
through one on one but Reece managed to get out quick and clear the ball
away. The game was even after this with no team testing the keeper and
was a very even game.
The second half Avonmouth pushed on for the win and they got the goal
they needed with the leagues top goal scorer Zaid Samadi. Avonmouth held
on for the win but not without a scare on the 90th min with Reece dropping
the ball from a long shot but managed to save his error on the line.
